working title: "Blimp & Dog: The Creation" | 2007-2008 | vector
I was asked to contribute to Bert Benson's San Francsisco-based 'zine Art Bureau 11. I took the opportunity to sketch a wordless story about two characters that have some sort of relationship and some sort of adventure. In short: set some characters loose and see what happens in a linear fashion and try to find a satisfying ending at some point. These few samples are from Chapters 1 and 2. I think I've figured out how to end Chapter 2 but to be honest, there's no end in sight. More than story writing, this is an exercise in character development, story-boarding and the delights of vector illustration. Stay tuned.
(Unfortunately for me but fortunately for the world, Art Bureau 11 also contained a marvelous story by Andy Smith so my idea was shelved in favor of excerpts from my sketchbooks.)
