RAINY DAY DRAWING

If it’s not too cold, I enjoy drawing outside on rainy, drizzly days. I like that it makes my charcoal and paint act in unpredictable ways. Here are some examples of drawing with charcoal and paint while it was drizzling. The drawings get a little fuzzy!

But, you don’t have to go outside in the cold spring rain. You can make your own rain in your cozy, warm artist studio inside.

I used a paintbrush and an old toothbrush to add water to my paper. Different kinds of charcoal pencils that I experimented with.

Here’s an example of a drawing of a flycatcher (a kind of bird) that I made in the rain. Once the rain stopped, I went back and drew some more.
